2025 Capital Project
The District Management Association is thrilled to share this year’s capital improvement project for the BID: refurbishment of the decorative lighting throughout Downtown. The pedestrian-scale light posts on N/S Broad St and E/W Main St (except for in the parks) will receive the same historic globe fixtures as those that are along Rexford Street in the Museum District (see below image). This project will not only beautify our streets, but also boost security with better lighting. Expect a safer, more inviting atmosphere for evening strolls and community events. Together, we are illuminating our neighborhood’s charm and safety!
Stay tuned for more updates, as the new light post heads are set to ship mid-July!

Downtown Revitalization Initiative
In 2022, the City of Norwich was awarded $10 million from Governer Hochul's Downtown Revitalization Initiative. The funding is actively supporting a number of transformational projects in Downtown Norwich, including park improvements, streetscape enhancements, and more. Most recently, Park Place Sports Bar & Grill underwent a facade renovation with funds from the DRI Small Project Grant Fund, open to property owners downtown wishing to make aesthetic improvements to their exteriors. A boutique hotel, renovations to the Chenango Arts Council Theater, and projects at the Heritage Building (44-46 N Broad Street) and historic Unguentine Building (20 American Avenue) are underway!
